Food Network surprises Dothan chef with a spot on competitive cooking show

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) – Audiences can soon watch a Dothan chef get surprised with a spot on a competitive cooking show hosted by Food Network.

Chelsea Gieselmann, a home chef and food blogger, thought she was entering a cooking audition. Instead, she was given the surprise of a lifetime.

In the return of Outchef’d, which enters its third season on Food Network this week, a confident home cook thinks they are entering an audition and is shocked to find out they are actually about to go head-to-head in a culinary battle against a renowned world-class chef.

To even the odds, Food Network says the home cook only needs one vote from a panel of random judges selected off the street to win a $5,000 grand prize.

Gieselmann, who traveled to New York City for the competition, often encourages her followers to eat and shop locally through her social media brand, Southrngritskitchen.

Gieselmann faces off against renowned chef Alex Guarnaschelli, who currently serves as executive chef at New York City’s Butter restaurant. Guarnaschelli has appeared on shows like Iron Chef America and Chopped.

The first episode of Outchef’d premieres on Thursday, May 30 at 8:30 p.m. CT.

Gieselmann’s episode will air on June 6.
